Transform Your Home into a Sustainable Charging Station

With PowerShare, intelligently distribute solar energy between your car and home.

What is PowerShare?

PowerShare is a cutting-edge energy solution that turns your electric vehicle into a backup power source for your home. Using bidirectional charging technology, PowerShare allows your EV to not only charge but also supply energy back to your home during an outage.

Frequently asked questions about PowerShare

What is Tesla Powershare and how does it work?

Tesla Powershare is a bidirectional charging system exclusive to the Tesla Cybertruck. It allows the truck’s 123 kWh battery to discharge electricity back out — to your home (V2H), to the grid (V2G), to another EV (V2V), or to onboard outlets. At 11.5 kW continuous output, a fully-charged Cybertruck can power a typical DFW home for 3+ days during a grid outage. Powershare requires a Universal Wall Connector and Powershare Gateway installed by a certified electrician.

No. As of April 2026, Powershare is still exclusive to the Tesla Cybertruck. Tesla has confirmed bidirectional charging support for the new Model Y Performance but has not yet broadly rolled out the feature. Powershare integration with Powerwall is scheduled for mid-2026.

Yes. Tesla launched the Powershare Grid Support Program (V2G) in February 2026, initially available to Cybertruck owners in Oncor and CenterPoint service territories. Participants discharge excess battery energy to the grid during high-demand events and receive bill credits. Enrollment requires a Powershare Gateway and Universal Wall Connector, and owners retain control through discharge limits via the Tesla app.

A complete Tesla Powershare installation (Universal Wall Connector + Powershare Gateway + electrical integration) typically costs $4,500–$7,500 installed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, depending on panel capacity and the distance from the electrical service. The hardware alone runs approximately $1,800–$2,400; the remainder covers labor, permitting, Oncor interconnection paperwork, and commissioning.

Yes. At 11.5 kW continuous output, a Cybertruck with Powershare can support whole-home backup for most DFW homes including HVAC, refrigerator, lights, internet, and medical equipment. The 123 kWh battery capacity is equivalent to approximately nine Tesla Powerwall units, providing 3+ days of backup for a typical home with moderate usage.

Full Powershare-Powerwall integration has been delayed and is now scheduled for mid-2026. When released, it will allow Cybertruck energy to flow through the Powerwall ecosystem, extending home backup duration significantly. Destined Energy installs both systems and will coordinate the integration once Tesla releases the firmware update.
